The sea, together with the Portuguese language, is one of the greatest treasures of Portugal! Our geographical condition, of a territory at the ends of the Earth, has marked not only our History, but also the destiny and character of the Portuguese. A History in which, for a long time, the options were limited to either defying the sea, or isolation. My poem 'Farol' (Lighthouse) was published in a Portuguese literary anthology revolving around the topic of the sea and its fundamental relationship with Portuguese culture. It was released in September 2021 and is now available to purchase from the publisher.  

Colliding Lines presents H O M E, an anthology of poems remixed and reimagined. H O M E asks ten poets to submit work for visual interpretation by six typographic artists. Neither poet nor designer spoke to each other, nor knew the other’s work prior to this project. The resulting pieces represent two perspectives, each poem possessing a new meaning created collaboratively between text and design.  Alongside in-house artists Angharad Hengyu Owen, Emma-Amalie Rode and El Lanham, we are honoured to be joined by design heroes Warren Lehrer, Ryan McDonagh and Lisbon-based press O Homem do Saco. Featured poets include Hollie McNish, Aidan Baker and Iris Colomb, and Colliding Lines’ Nikki Marrone, Nick Murray and Wes Freeman-Smith.  H O M E will be available as a booklet and later available as a limited, hand-bound edition created by El Lanham. I participated with my poem "Hums and Oms" which was re-interpreted by artist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ryan.mcdonagh_/">Ryan McDonagh</a> in a beautiful way. 

I was recently published on the “Liberdade” anthology of free contemporary Portuguese poetry. This second volume of the collection was published through <a href=“www.chiadobooks.com”>Chiado Books</a> and selected by Gonçalo Martins and intends to give a voice to the more experimental poets of Portugal, and immortalise this work, which otherwise would be unknown.

Established as a talented producer and DJ, Aslan has forged a reputation for coming to music and culture from fresh and less-travelled paths, whether it’s crate-digging for rare Swiss new wave or sampling forgotten Turkish pop. Music For Books is a show that combines the pleasure of reading with the curation of personal soundtracks. The show is an evolving examination of our passion for art across different mediums. Aslan will encourage his audience to think about literature in different ways, exploring the relationship between sound and imagination. In this particular episode, Mehmet reads and re-imagines the book 'A Wandering Poem / Um Poema Errante' by creating a journey of poetry and soundscapes, which could be considered as a third interpretation of the book, this time exploring the sensory space of the ears. 

I was published on the “Entre of Sono e o Sonho” anthology of contemporary Portuguese poetry for a second time in 2018, for the 10th volume of this collection from <a href=“www.chiadobooks.com”>Chiado Books</a>, selected by Gonçalo Martins and launched at the Convent of São Francisco, in Coimbra, Portugal. This anthology inscribes poems of hundreds of poets of our time, hundreds of voices, visions of the world, thoughts and memories, in a meeting where a single voice emerges from the crowd: the voice of poetry as an act of sharing, generosity and driving force of the present time.

'Um Poema Errante / A Wandering Poem' is the printed collaboration between travelling poet Christian Marques and visual interpreter Angharad Hengyu Owen.  The text is a bi-disciplinary re-exploration of an eight-month journey across Europe, Asia and the Middle East, covering roughly 11'500 km by land, unearthing one poem a day. Presented in English and Portuguese, the book is a collection of emotional imprints, where poetic free-verse works hand-in-hand with its unique visualisation.  This limited edition zine version of A Wandering Poem is published by Colliding Lines: a 32-page extract from AWP printed on 120gsm Oyster Wove.

I was first published in Portugal by <a href=“www.chiadobooks.com”>Chiado Books</a> on their 7th volume of the “Entre o Sono e o Sonho” anthology of contemporary Portuguese poetry. The work gathers one thousand poems between renown poets and new talents, and was selected by Gonçalo Martins and Filipe Costa. The launch happened at the Tivoli Theatre in Lisbon, where Custódia Gallego, Carlos M. Cunha e Gonçalo Martins read selected poems from the anthology to an audience of poetry lovers. It is considered the biggest and broadest poetic anthology in Portuguese language.

Um Poema Errante / A Wandering Poem' is the printed collaboration between travelling poet Christian Marques and visual interpreter Angharad Hengyu Owen. A literary project unlike anything that has ever been published, it embodies a bi-disciplinary re-exploration of an eight-month journey from Europe, across the Middle East, to Asia: Undertaken by the author himself, crossing seven countries, covering roughly 11'500 kilometers by land, unearthing one poem a day. The result is a bilingual (English and Portuguese) collection of emotional imprints, where each poetic free-verse works hand in hand with its unique visualisation on paper, offering a multi-layered and inner-directed reading experience, and ultimately a voyage of sorts through printed words.
